What Will I Do in Plaisance?

Your experience will be shaped by your interests, skills, and background. There are many meaningful ways to serve, including:

• Bringing a medical or dental team to provide care for community members

• Joining a construction team to help build homes or assist with our new school building

• Teaching at the school, whether English, dance, gardening, or another skill

• Hosting a food and/or clothing distribution

• Organizing a soccer tournament for the community—these are always a favorite

• Spending time with the children at the orphanage and hosting fun events for them.

• Teaching art or music to kids or adults

• Leading educational workshops for young women

And that’s just the beginning—there is always more to be done. Let us know what you're passionate about.

You’ll also have time to experience the beauty of our village. Activities include visiting the waterfall, exploring caves, swimming in rivers, climbing mountains, walking through the village, and visiting the local farmers market. We can even plan a day trip to the beach, about 1½ hours away.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost to be hosted by us is $75 per person per day. This includes:

• Three meals per day

• Drinks and fresh local fruit throughout the day

• Room and board

• 24/7 Wi-Fi

• 24/7 security

• Daily on-the-ground support

Accommodations

We have two guest houses:

• Guest House One: Four private rooms, each with a queen bed, private bathroom, sink, and shower

• Large Guest House: A group home that can accommodate teams of up to 20 people, with individual twin beds in shared rooms​

Transportation

The daily cost includes transportation for up to five people in our main vehicle. For larger groups, rental cars are easy to arrange and cost approximately $200 per day. This is typically used for airport pickup and drop-off (Les Cayes Airport to Plaisance du Sud is about a one-hour drive).

​

Once in Plaisance, most movement is done on foot, as everything is close and easily accessible.
